Wish Back Privacy Policy
Effective October 4, 2026
Wish Back is a browser extension that remembers who wished you happy birthday on Facebook and points them out when Facebook shows their birthday. This policy explains what it handles and where that information goes. The short version: everything stays on your own computer.
What the extension stores
When you click "Scan my birthday wishes" on your own profile, Wish Back reads the birthday posts shown on that page and saves, for each person who posted:
- their display name and profile link identifier (username or numeric ID)
- the text of the birthday message they wrote you, and the year.
It also stores whether you dismissed today's on-page reminder.
Where it is stored
All of this is saved with the browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. Wish Back has no server. It does not send your data to the developer or to anyone else, and it contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code.
What it does not do
- It never posts, comments, sends messages, or types anything on Facebook.
- It does not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties.
- It does not use your data for advertising, credit decisions, or any purpose other than marking those people in birthday reminders.
- It only reads pages on facebook.com, and only to find the birthday posts on your own profile and names in birthday reminders.
Your control
"Export" saves your list as a JSON file that you keep. "Import" loads such a file back. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
